RULES FOR U15s Barclay and U16s Barclay League CUP ROUND ROBIN stage:
It was agreed at the last league meeting that, because this was a new format that some rules making it clear how positions would be decided should be circulated for any observations prior to the first round on 15/11/09. Below are the proposed rules on which any observations FROM CLUBS IN THE RESPECTIVE LEAGUES (i.e. U15 Barclay and U16 Barclay) by next Monday (9/11) when the final rules will be ratified.
Observations should be forwarded to the league secretary.
The first round of the competition will involve the teams being drawn into two separate leagues in which each team will play the other teams once.
Three points will be awarded for a win and no points for a loss. There will no draws.
Timings of matches will be in accordance with cup rules which are already approved in the league constitution.
In the event of the score being tied at the end of normal time, extra time as per the league rules for the age group conserned will be played.
At the conclusion of extra time, if the scores remain tied, penalty kicks in accordnace with the league rules will be taken to decide the winner of the match.
The top two teams in each league will then go into a draw to play as semi-fianlists in the league on a one-match knock-out basis.
In the event of teams being equal on points the following shall be used to determine their order in the league:
(1) Any points accrued for a win which was achieved without the need for penalties shall have higher priority than those where penalties were used to decide a match
In the event that teams are still tied on points:
(2) Goal difference but with the proviso that the winning margin in any game shall not be recorded as more than 9 goals.
